Peter was born in New York and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland in College Park. While attending Maryland, Peter was a varsity letterman on the Track and Field Team as a Decathlete. He was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference team for his performance in the decathlon, and was also selected as an Atlantic Coast Conference Academic All-Conference member for his academic achievements. Peter’s decathlon scores have also placed him among the elite as one of Maryland’s All Time Top Ten.
While at Maryland, Peter was also a student judge on the University’s Central Judicial Board, he was a member of the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) National Leadership Honor Society as well as being selected to Who’s Who Among American College Students. Peter also received the coveted “Spirit of Maryland” Award which is the highest undergraduate student honor given by the University.
Peter received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. While at UB, he was a student attorney in the UB Law School Criminal Justice Clinic. While representing the Office of the State’s Attorney as a student-prosecutor, Peter began to learn the criminal justice process, including the handling of jury trials.
Upon graduation from law school, Peter started his career as an Assistant State’s Attorney prosecuting in the Baltimore County Office of the State’s Attorney, but later resigned that position in order to train for the United States Olympic Track & Field Trials in the Decathlon. Upon his return to the legal profession, Peter went into the private sector and began practicing criminal law on the other side of the courtroom as a defense attorney.
Peter began working for the legendary criminal defense attorney, Fred R. Joseph. Under his mentoring, Peter learned the art of being a criminal defense attorney.
Several years later, Peter left to start the preeminent litigation boutique law firm of Rosenberg & Fayne. He became the Managing Partner and a founding member of Rosenberg & Fayne, a law firm dedicated in part to the defense of criminal cases in both state and federal court. In addition, Peter has been named a “Super Lawyer” for Maryland and Washington, D.C. every year since 2008. He is also acknowledged by his peers for the highest rating for both ethics and legal ability.
Peter, who practices as a criminal trial lawyer in both Federal and State Courts in Maryland and Washington, D.C., has represented dozens of prominent clients. His client roster includes some notable figures in the world of politics, sports and business. He recently won an acquittal on all counts in a high profile felony murder case which was publicized in The Washington Post, and he appeared on the local television media to discuss the case.
