Because of Susan’s broad background in the practice of law, she can handle cases from investigation, to trial, and through appeal until final disposition. Licensed in both state and federal courts, there is little Susan has not seen over the duration of her legal career which began in 1986. She has tried over eighty jury trials and handled over fifty appeals. Because of her experience as an appellate briefing attorney, a teacher at colleges and police academies on the fundamentals of law, a trial lawyer who has handled thousands of serious criminal cases both as a state prosecutor and as a state and federal defense attorney, and her Board Certification in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Specialization, Susan understands the criminal case from all perspectives.
After graduating from Baylor Law School, Susan and has practiced law in Waco, Texas since that time. She is also licensed to practice law in Colorado and enjoys handling certain cases there when possible. She has guest lectured for Baylor, Baylor Law School, the McLennan County Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and many other organizations.
Known among judges, colleagues, clients, and others as a lawyer who genuinely cares about her clients, Susan never forgets that she is vigorously advocating for real people who deserve honest communication, sensitivity, and respect.
Susan is involved in the Waco community, and especially in the cultural arts, having served as past President of the Waco Civic Theatre. She enjoys spending time with her family, her pets and enjoys just about every sporting activity.
