After Cal, Mr. Williams attended the law school of Thomas M. Cooley. He graduated with honors (Cum Laude). While in law school, he had the opportunity to Clerk for the Honorable Judge Amy Krause in the 54A- District Court in Lansing Michigan. As a law clerk, Mr. Williams was able to experience law from a judicial standpoint. He discussed cases with the judge, wrote bench memos, and provided legal research for the court. Because this court was primarily a domestic violence court, Mr. Williams was able to gain extensive experience in domestic violence related issues and cases.
After his judicial clerkship, Mr. Williams was given an opportunity to clerk for the Santa Clara District Attorney Office. He was supervised by the Honorable Judge Cynthia Sevely. At the district attorney office, he first chaired traffic court trials, negotiated settlements, argued motions to suppresses, serna motions, demurrer motions and motions to withdrawl plea. He participated in jury trials and provided extensive input in trial strategy and pretrial negotiations for the misdemeanor department.
