Douglas R. Young is a nationally recognized advocate whose practice involves trials and appeals in federal and state courts throughout the United States. Because he has expertise in such wide-ranging matters as White Collar defense work (including trials, government and corporate investigations, and grand jury representations in areas such as accounting fraud and insider trading, Sarbanes-Oxley counseling, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and Medicare fraud), Intellectual Property (e.g., trade secrets and patent litigation), Securities and Antitrust (including in both areas significant class action work), Unfair Competition, and the First Amendment (including newsroom counseling and litigation for two broadcast television stations), Mr. Young practices with the firm's White Collar, Intellectual Property, and Business Litigation groups. Mr. Young has also served as a Special Master in both complex civil and multi-defendant criminal cases.

Among other honors Mr. Young has earned are Fellowships with both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He has also served as President of the Bar Association of San Francisco and as an officer or board member for several public-interest organizations, and has regularly accepted court appointments under the Federal Criminal Justice Act or on a pro bono basis for individuals and institutions. Mr. Young is a frequent lecturer and author on substantive developments in trial and appellate practice and related areas. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is recognized as one of the leading litigators in California in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 editions of Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers. Mr. Young is also recognized as a top attorney on the 2004 and 2005 lists of Northern California Super Lawyers by Law & Politics.

He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth and Ninth Circuits; U.S. District Courts, Northern and Central Districts of California and District of Hawaii; and is certified by the State Bar of California as a Specialist in Appellate Law.
