J. Christopher Brantley
Chris Brantley is a founding partner of Riddle & Brantley, LLP. He began practicing law in 1993 as an associate with Whitley, Jenkins and Associates in Kinston, North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Chris has represented thousands of clients from the entire state of North Carolina. Chris has handled both personal injury and Social Security disability claims, but he primarily focuses his practice on representing workers injured on the job. Chris was among the first group of attorneys to become board-certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation law in 2000. This certification required him to pass a rigorously specialized written examination, be recommended by other attorneys and to demonstrate considerable experience and expertise in the field of workers’ compensation law. Chris has successfully maintained his status as a specialist in Workers Compensation by continuing to complete detailed and rigorous reporting requirements and continuing legal education.
Chris was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1966 and grew up in the Wayne County area. He graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1984. He attended both North Carolina State University and East Carolina University as an undergraduate, graduating from East Carolina University in December 1989. He graduated from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in May 1993 and passed the North Carolina State Bar exam in August 1993.
Chris is licensed to practice law in all North Carolina state courts and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an honor to recognize him for achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in excess of $1 million or more. Chris has tried jury cases to verdict and numerous worker’s compensation cases at the hearing and appellate levels, and he has resolved thousands of cases for injured workers both informally and through formal mediated settlement conferences. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Wayne County Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Association for Justice and Top 100 Trial Lawyer of The National Trial Lawyers. Chris is also on the Board of Advisors for the State Employee’s Credit Union.
Chris enjoys various sports, exercising, music and playing guitar. Most importantly, Chris enjoys spending time with his two daughters and wife of 18 years. Please read some of Chris’ notable cases in the Significant Cases section of our website.
