A partner with The Cochran Firm - Dothan office, J. Farrest Taylor has litigated a wide variety of cases and has been involved in some of the country's most significant, high-profile environmental cases. He has served as lead counsel in complex cases in a number of jurisdictions. In 2007, Mr. Taylor was co-lead counsel for an environmental case against E.I. DuPont which resulted in a $390 million jury verdict, the largest consumer verdict for that year.
Mr. Taylor's practice focuses on appellate advocacy, environmental litigation, complex litigation, and personal injury. With extensive experience in briefing legal issues, Mr. Taylor has argued cases before many different appellate courts involving issues on the cutting edge of the law. During his 20 years of practice, Farrest has written hundreds of legal briefs addressing a wide variety of issues.
Licensed to practice law in Alabama, Virginia and West Virginia, Mr. Taylor is a member of the Alabama Bar Association and the Virginia Bar Association. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. For his work on the environmental case, Perrine, et al. vs. E.I. Dupont De Nemours and Co., et al., Mr. Taylor was nominated for the 2008 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award by the Public Justice Foundation.
Mr. Taylor graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Chemistry in 1982. He received his Masters of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Virginia. In 1990, he obtained his law degree from Florida State University College of Law graduating with high honors.
