James Bartimus

Jim Bartimus concentrates his practice in the areas of medical negligence and pharmaceutical litigation.
He earned his law from degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1977. He then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine for three years.

Mr. Bartimus is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, all Missouri, Kansas and Colorado state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, and the Western District of Missouri.

He is a past president of the Civil Justice Foundation, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, Missouri Institute for Justice and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mr. Bartimus is a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Legal Medicine and the American Bar Foundation. He has served on the national board of American Board of Trial Advocates, International Society of Barristers and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Bartimus was Chair of the Professional Negligence Section, Birth Trauma Litigation Group as well as Medical Neligence Information Exchange on behalf of the AAJ.

Mr. Bartimus is a member of the European Bar, Association of Personal Injury Lawyers as well as American Judicature Society, American Society of Legal Medicine and Lawyers-Pilot Bar Association.
Mr. Bartimus holds an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell law directory, was voted “Best Medical Negligence Lawyer” in Missouri in 2007, and has consistently been listed in The Best Lawyers in America®. He was selected "Litigator of the Year Kansas City" 2010 by Best Lawyers®.

Mr. Bartimus is a contributing author to a number of textbooks and has written extensively for national legal publications. He is a past adjunct professor to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, and is past adjunct graduate faculty for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing.
