Joe Prieksat moved around the West as a child and grew up mostly in South Dakota, where he attended law school. He studied criminal justice, psychology and philosophy in college and loved the philosophy behind the law. That's what ultimately pushed him into law school.
He liked the idea of being able to help people through practicing law. "I anticipated being a criminal defense attorney," he said. But he stepped into personal injury law by chance and never looked back. It's a rewarding career, he said. No two clients' injuries are the same and no two sets of facts are the same," he said. "But everybody deserves the same amount of care and compassion and the same chance to tell their story and seek justice." Prieksat prides himself on listening carefully to clients and understanding their situations.
"What sets McDivitt apart is that we treat our clients like family," he said. The mission is to help ordinary people get justice in cases against big insurance companies, but it's also to make sure every client is treated the way the attorneys would want to be treated, Prieksat said.
