Caplan & Tamburino Law Firm, P.A.
10 S. 5th Street, Suite 525
Minneapolis, MN 55402
Named a Minnesota “Super Lawyer” for more than 17 consecutive years, there are few criminal defense attorneys in the Midwest with a stronger claim to criminal law expertise than Joe Tamburino. As an MSBA Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist, Mr. Tamburino has demonstrated an unparalled passion for defending the accused – and he stands in rarified company, as only 3% of lawyers have received the same Board Certification in the field of Criminal Law.
After graduating from New York University, Mr. Tamburino received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law school. Mr. Tamburino then started his career working as a public defender at the Anoka County Attorney’s Office. It was there that he gained a true appreciation for criminal defense, and providing everyone with a fair chance in our justice system.
By 1997, Mr. Tamburino had already joined the firm that would eventually bear his name: Caplan & Tamburino Law Firm, P.A, where he quickly gained recognition within the Twin Cities legal community. Only a year later, he was given the prestigious title of “Rising Star in Minnesota” by Minnesota Law & Politics. This remarkable distinction is only granted to exceptional lawyers under the age of 40, with fewer than 10 years of practice under their belt. More recently, Mr. Tamburino was given the distinction of becoming a Top 100 Trial Lawyer at National Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Tamburino has spent the last 25 years immersed in the realm of criminal law, applying his skills and formidable trial experience to every case. Defending clients from a wide variety of backgrounds, he has tried more than 85 jury trials. He also covers a wide range of practice areas, including assault, homicide, and DWI cases, as well as child pornography and Title IX defense cases.
Currently licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, Mr. Tamburino takes an active approach to continuing legal education, and provides regular commentary on legal issues for outlets like Minnesota Public Radio, KSMP/Fox 9 TV, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, and WCCO TV & Radio. He also lectures frequently at local high schools and legal organizations, and from 1996 to 1998 he served as a St. Paul Community Council Member.
