Kathleen is the first female recipient of the Leadership in Law Award, Generation JD from the Daily Record in Southern Maryland. She was previously recognized as The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in 2014. Most recently, in April 2018, Kathleen was recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in Maryland by the Daily Record, joining top judges, attorneys, and businesswomen from all over Maryland.

Kathleen's legal career began with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender (MOPD), assuming increasingly more significant positions from June 2006 through June 2013. In December 2007, she began practicing as an attorney in St. Mary's County, providing representation for clients in criminal cases. Kathleen was responsible for four to five District Court dockets weekly for more than 100 cases a month. She was then promoted to the Hagerstown office of the OPD. She completed over 100 cases and carried a caseload of approximately 40 active Circuit Court felony cases. Kathleen handled five jury trials, two court trials, and four suppression hearings in under two years. These cases ranged from simple possession to 1st degree Murder.

Kathleen has zealously defended clients in landlord tenant, family law, security clearance issues, and criminal law matters. Since entering private practice, she regularly travels between the three Southern Maryland counties and Prince George's County. Kathleen has also handled cases for client's as far away as Harford County and Arlington, VA. She also represents clients in front of Administrative Law Judges for Motor Vehicle Administrative (MVA) hearings, security clearance hearings, and Title IX hearings for students at St. Mary's College of Southern Maryland.

Kathleen was born and raised in Linthicum, Maryland. She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Arizona, a 2007 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December of 2007. She is a current member of the Maryland State Bar Association, St. Mary's County Bar Association, an Alumnus of Leadership of Southern Maryland (Class of 2016), and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. She currently dedicates time as a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Children and Community Mediation of St. Mary's County. She can also be found at lunchtime working with the students of Leonardtown High School for the Mock Trial Competition.

Kathleen's husband works at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and they are raising their daughters in St. Mary's County.
