Born in St. Louis Park, Minnesota in 1968, Ms. Ward has been litigating medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts of Maryland as well as in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia for more than ten years. Ms. Ward obtained her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and obtained her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in May 2000. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Ward worked as a medical malpractice paralegal for four years. Thereafter, she worked as a claims consultant and risk management consultant for two medical malpractice insurance carriers, one of which is the largest insurer of physicians in the State of Maryland. The positions provided Ms. Ward with extensive experience in the medical malpractice field.
Following graduation from law school, Ms. Ward worked at a large medical malpractice defense firm located in Annapolis, Maryland. She was at the firm for 10 years, becoming a partner in 2005. At that firm, Ms. Ward defended cases on behalf of individual physicians, group practices and hospitals. Ms. Ward then worked in an Of Counsel capacity at a law firm in Towson, Maryland, until the partnership formation with Carlos Stecco, forming the boutique litigation firm of Stecco & Ward, P.C.
Ms. Ward has lectured widely at seminars for health care professionals and attorneys, speaking on such diverse topics as neurologically impaired infants, shoulder dystocia and Group B Strep during pregnancy, as well as a myriad of nursing issues.
Based upon her experiences as a defense attorney, as well as a personal experience with the medical negligence of a physician, Ms. Ward has found her true calling in the representation of victims of medical malpractice and nursing home negligence/abuse/neglect.
