He has 25 years of experience in criminal defense practice. He has represented more than 1,000 people accused of crimes in state and federal courts. He handles a broad range of criminal matters, including defense of DUI, assault, domestic violence, theft, sex offenses, and drug charges. He has been the lead attorney in a number of high-level felony cases, including defense of murder, vehicular homicide, rape, and drug trafficking charges.
Through his decades of legal practice, Wisehart has gained extensive knowledge of criminal laws and court processes in both Ohio and federal courts. He understands the details of how law enforcement officers investigate crimes, search for evidence, and use it to build a case for an arrest.
He also understands how prosecutors think and how the local judges handling your case are likely to approach your charge. He puts that knowledge and experience to work on behalf of each defendant he represents to get the best possible outcome for each charge.
Because of his substantial courtroom experience, Wisehart can be a voice for people who are up against the power of prosecutors and government. He can be a compassionate advocate for people who are treated by the system like they're guilty - even though they're presumed innocent unless the government proves their guilt.
Wisehart is a native of Bedford, Mich., just across the state line from Toledo, Ohio. He was inspired as a young man to become a lawyer by an attorney he knew in his church who was dedicated to helping other people get out of tough spots.
He earned his bachelor's degree at Michigan State University in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He went on to law school at the University of Toledo. After law school, Wisehart became a public defender in Erie County, where he learned the nuts and bolts of how criminal cases work. He later worked at law firm Buckingham & Holzapfel before joining the law firm that was then Calhoun, Kademenos, & Childress.
As a criminal defense lawyer, Wisehart balances strong advocacy with professionalism. He believes in straightforward, honest communication with every client. He strives to make sure people accused of crimes understand the criminal process and have all of the information they need to make informed decisions about their lives.
Wisehart relishes reading about the cutting edge of forensic science and evidence analysis techniques. He also stays up-to-date on the latest developments in search and seizure laws to ensure that his clients rights are protected.
When he isn't defending clients, Wisehart enjoys coaching basketball and watching Cleveland's pro sports teams.
